2016 AAUW North Dakota Annual Meeting

April 22-23, 2016 – Devils Lake, ND

Protecting Your Income Before and After Retirement

AAUW members will be excited to attend the 2016 Annual meeting that is scheduled for April 22 and 23 in Devils Lake, ND.  Activities will focus on the theme, Protecting Your Income Before and After Retirement, and protecting a women’s income.  The event will be hosted by the Devils Lake branch.  Since women in ND earn less than our male counterparts, every dollar counts.  This event will help us learn how we can make the most of our income.   The tentative program will begin on Friday evening with an education workshop on “Work Smart.”  Salary negotiation strategies for the working woman, followed by a welcome reception hosted by Devils Lake Branch president, Theresa Leiphon.  On Saturday, April 23 members will learn more about protecting our income after retirement with presentations on social security and updates from AAUW National.  This will be followed by our annual business meeting in the afternoon.  All events except the reception will be held at Lake Region State College in the Chautauqua Gallery.

Equal Pay Day – April 12, 2016

Equal Pay Day EventSometimes we find ourselves wishing for more than 24 hours in a day or more than seven days in a week, but more time is not always better: It takes women about 15 months to earn what men earn in 12, thanks to the gender pay gap.

We “celebrate” this occasion every April on a day known as Equal Pay Day, which is the symbolic day when women’s earnings (78 cents to men’s dollar) finally catch up to men’s earnings from the previous year. Equal Pay Day is a powerful occasion to raise awareness and organize action around the gender pay gap in our communities.

Equal Pay Day 2016 will fall on Tuesday, April 12, so mark your calendar!
