Campaign Development Training

Graduate of Ready to Run – North Dakota! Candidates and campaign staff! Anyone with an interest in campaign. Sign up to attend the Ready to Run workshop for committed campaigners, June 21st at Bismarck State College, 3:00 – 5:30 pm.

This workshop is a stepped up training for individuals (or staff) who are announced, endorsed, and need a little extra help in ironing the wrinkles out of their campaign. Participants will first assess where they are with the help of a checklist of campaign activity. Have you barely started and need to play catch-up? Or are you well on the way? We will discuss the pros and cons of various communication mediums…Facebook? Yard signs? Billboards? The facts about costs, reach, and practicality will help you make critical decisions about how to get your message out.

We will get more in-depth regarding research, outreach, and fundraising. Participants will be divided into statewide and local candidate groups to work on issues that differ between the two campaign types. Included in this portion will be interactive work on the candidate stump speech with real, constructive help on how to get your message across in three minutes or less.

Participants will also discuss how to balance a full time job, family, and a campaign. We will share ideas and learn from each other as well as the facilitators, while remaining sensitive to the fact that we come with different ideologies and political backgrounds.

 What is Ready to Run™?

Ready to Run™ is a bi-partisan program for women who want to run for office, seek higher office, work on a campaign, get appointed to office, or learn more about the political system.

Ready to Run™ is your one-stop training on running for office or getting involved in public life. You will learn from prominent elected and appointed leaders, campaign consultants, party officials, and policy experts.

 Why women leaders matter…

Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) research shows that political women change the public policy agenda and the way government works. Women make our democracy more inclusive and more responsive to the concerns of all citizens.

Why 2012 Is So Important?

Following the 2010 census, state legislative districts will be redrawn, creating new and open seats — and that means opportunities will open up all the way down the line. Newcomers fare best in races for open seats, making 2012 a great year for women to run and win!
