2019-2020 AAUW Jamestown Meeting Schedule

August 28, 2019
Rock the Block

5:00 – 8:00 pm
Location: Main Street Jamestown, in front of Fred’s Den on main street.
“AAUW Jamestown will be hosting a booth at the University of Jamestown “Rock The Block” party on Main Street, Jamestown.  Members will be educating the community on what AAUW does to contribute to the community and to the education and equality of women and girls. The booth will feature our Used Bookstore, Garden Tour, Tech Savvy event and also salary negotiation skills learned via Work Smart.
Hostess: All members encouraged to participate.

September 12, 2019
James Valley Library

6:00 – 8:00 pm
Location: Community Room – former Alfred Dickey Library on Main St.

Bring a guest to this meeting. All new members signing up at the meeting receive half off of their national dues.  Enjoy an overview of the James Valley Library including history, renovations and new features.  A short business meeting will be followed by dessert.

Location: Board Room – across from Apple Basket Café – lower level

Learn about all of the resources available to women to get preventive healthcare, so women have “No Excuses” to not have regular screenings.

10:30 AM – Program by Judge Cherie Clark and LeAnn Bertsch, Director of the North Dakota Departments of Corrections and Rehabilitation will speak about the Southeast Judicial District Drug Court in Jamestown and how the community can be involved in Criminal Justice Reform. (Program open to Public)

Members can choose to read a book, (The Radium Girls) or watch a movie (She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry) or both and then join the conference call discussion group as our “stay-at-home” and “be comfy” meeting brings the monthly branch meeting to your home this month.

All members are encouraged to support this local STEM event by helping out with the event.  This program is partially sponsored and supported by AAUW Jamestown

Work Smart – Online Salary Negotiation Seminar
Jamestown High School Computer Lab
7:00 – 9:00 pm

AAUW members and guests will work online and complete the online AAUW Work Smart Program on Salary Negotiation.  Learning how to actively negotiate salary is one of the biggest obstacles to Pay Equity for Women.  Help AAUW reach their goal of training one million women in salary negotiation skills.

Potluck Social in the Park
McElroy Park – Watch for Balloons

AAUW Members are invited to attend a potluck social in McElroy park. This social will be our first face-to-face event since the beginning of the pandemic. Please practice social distancing. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.  The exact location will be marked by balloons inside McElroy park.  Please bring a dish to share.  All eating utensils and beverages will be provided.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the 2020 AAUW Garden Tour is cancelled.
