Why Join AAUW?
BECAUSE EQUITY IS STILL AN ISSUE!
People join AAUW to find fellowship with like-minded women (and men) who not only have fun in our branch activities and special interest groups, but also support AAUW’s mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, research and philanthropy.
In the Jamestown branch, monthly membership meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated). Meetings feature programs that address these issues and support our mission. In additional to socializing with like-minded women and men, other benefits of membership, as listed on the AAUW website, include special member discounts; the quarterly national AAUW magazine Outlook; opportunities to join in meetings and projects with members from all over the country, programs that focus on leadership development and community outreach.
Who Can Join?
Membership in AAUW is open to all graduates who hold an associate’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited college and/or university. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class. Enrolled college students may join at a reduced rate. Undergraduates can join for free, with an online, e-student affiliate membership.
